Planning Rigging Operations - ICE Level 4 (International Rigging)

Rigging (APML)

Level 4 - International Competence: Engineering – Construction (Black Card)

  OCCUPATION PROFILE – APPOINTED PERSONS MOVING LOADS (RIGGING)

The occupation of Appointed Persons Moving Loads (Rigging) refers to the management and planning of lifts or moving loads operations that frequently occur on Engineering Construction Industry sites.

These operations often require the performance of complex type lifts using non crane lifting equipment in environments such as power stations, refineries and offshore installations where the lifts or moving loads operations often take place within confined or enclosed spaces, over several levels using existing or specially modified suspension points and multiple, sometimes specialised winches and rigging equipment. These operations can and often do involve complex engineering based calculations, multiple transfers of the load using various types of lifting equipment and accessories and require high levels of rigging skill and associated specialist techniques.

  INTERNATIONAL COMPETENCE: ENGINEERING-CONSTRUCTION (ICE) SCHEME

ICE Validates knowledge and skills against ECITB Standards ensuring people working in the Engineering-Construction industry are technically competent. ICE recognises the importance of continuous training/assessment through the ICE renewal process.

The International Competence: Engineering - Construction (ICE Level 4) Framework defines the skills and job knowledge required to become an Appointed Person for Moving Loads (Rigging) in an Engineering-Construction environment.

ICE Level 4

At ECITB level 4 personnel can be tasked with the full range of rigging activities such as;

• Legislation, Safe Working Practices and Procedures
• Roles and Responsibilities
• Generating lift plans, risk assessments and tool box talks
• Calculating Forces
• Planning and Performing Rigging Tasks

ECITB International Health and Safety Passport (IHSP) – Supervisor

The aims of the ECITB IHSP scheme are to ensure that all site personnel worldwide have reached a recognised level of Health and Safety knowledge and awareness to enable them to work on site more safely, reducing the health and safety risk to themselves and others around them.

To ensure individuals reach the required level of Health and Safety knowledge, all delegates on each of the courses MUST successfully complete the necessary training programme, which in all cases includes at least one examination. Successful candidates will then be rewarded by being issued their unique IHSP photographic passport, transferable worldwide.
